Individuality

VAS Pots and Planters are Individual.

Vas pots have been hand crafted by artisans; they will have visible soldered joints and they will develop their own unique patinas.

Weathering Patinas and Natural Processes

VAS Zinc Pots

VAS zinc pots are hand made from titanium-zinc plates. The joints are soldered using a soft soldering process using metals containing 50% tin and 50% lead.

VAS pots are treated with an ageing product that dulls the surface, speeds up the natural weathering process & allows the metals to oxidise more quickly.

The coating gives a darker general patina that lasts for many years.

Zinc pots become light grey over time - the zinc produces a white matt powdery surface within a few weeks.

VAS pots can take on their own unique character depending on how they are allowed to develop their patinas. If you want an even patina then we advise that you evenly wet the pot with a hose spray, let the pot dry and then repeat this process.

VAS Copper Pots

The fresh new shiny copper finish will last only a few weeks, then it develops a matt finish and darker brown patina.

The copper will eventually oxidise to form a green “Verdi Gris” patina but this takes a long time and only starts to develop after about 3 years.
